Selection Guide
Your Paper Selection Guide
Convey the image that you want for your Business Stationery ensemble through your choice of paper. Most of us react to the feel of fine paper - its texture, weight, finish and color. Our Navitor™ product specialists selected distinctive papers ranging from the best selling smooth finishes to top-of-the-line. This guide tells you what distinguishes each of the fine papers available. We hope you will enjoy choosing the right paper for you.
Texture/Finish -
The Physical appearance and feel of the paper.
Linen - long considered a classic paper finish, it can be easily recognized by the vertical and horizontal lines crossing the paper. This distinguished paper truly gives the appearance of fine linen.
Laid - recognizable for its set of fine lines that run the length of the paper reminiscent of handmade paper, this textured paper adds depth to any imprint.
Smooth - clean, high performance finish that works for most applications.
Weight -
The Basis Weight of paper is defined as the number of pounds that 500 sheets of a certain size weighs. In most cases, the higher the weight, the heavier the feel of the paper. Generally, a heavier weight is
perceived
as being of higher quality.
Color -
The shade of paper, generally as described by the manufacturer of a specific brand. Paper color should be chosen with an eye to the color(s) of ink that will be printed on it since the shade of the paper will impact the way the color appears. A variety of ink colors help you to visualize potential ink and paper combinations.
Brightness -
A technical measurement of the light reflected back from the paper. The brightness of white and near-white papers can be considered as the whiteness of the paper as it appears to the eye. Brightness affects the contrast, color values, and attractive appearance of a printed product. Generally, 100 is the highest "brightness" that can be calibrated. Higher brightness provides better print contrast, especially for full color printing. Our "Green" papers are both 95 brightness.
